There are a quite few companies that does this CDL Training for their employees. XPO Logistics is finally getting on board and paying for CDL Training. XPO are already expecting more than 150 trainees to complete courses in 2017.
“Our CDL training is a unique opportunity in that both the company and the student have skin in the game,” Tony Brooks, president of XPO’s less-than-truckload business, said in a statement May 24. “Students commit to classroom and hands-on instruction, and XPO provides free tuition and income while training.”
The equivalent cost of training at for-profit driver training schools is about $5,000, the company said.
Once students finish training, pass the CDL tests and complete a probationary period are eligible for full time driving job at XPO with benefits (health care, profit sharing & 401 k retirement contributions plan).
“The program is designed to create satisfying careers for professional drivers who share our focus on safety and customer service,” Brooks said.
