On March 8 in Indianapolis, Toyota revealed its entry into the heavy truck market at the Work Truck Show. President and CEO of Hino Trucks North America Yoshinori Noguchi says, “Considering our remarkable success in class 4-7 in North America, and our growing global presence in the Class 8 market, entering the North American heavy-duty segment makes for the next logical step.”
Toyota showed the debut of the Hino XL Series. The engine features a range of 300-360 horsepower and up to 1,150 Ib.-ft. of torque. The XL Series will offer in several straight truck and tractor configurations ranging from a GVWR of 33,000 to 60,000 Ib. and a GCWR up to 66.000 Ib.
